Tomás Sánchez Villaluenga

Software Engineer | Applied AI & Automation

I build software that holds up in the real world: AI systems and robust traditional platforms, from first idea to production. A practical, creative problem-solver, I have also worked on safety-critical software for Airbus.

Robotics & AI Software Engineer

Moffett Automation, Ireland

Document review and update workload
~90% lower
HR & Workforce Management Platform users
150+

What I do

  • I lead the development of company applications from scratch, partnering directly with business teams to define requirements, owning end-to-end delivery and supporting AI adoption across business workflows.
  • I reduced document review and update workload by ~90% through AI-driven automation, reducing data mismatches and critical client-facing errors.
  • I build, develop and maintain computer vision solutions for automation and warehousing robotics.

The ~90% reduction in document review and update workload comes from the Agentic Document Inspector.

Production platforms

I built two AI platforms at Moffett, both in production and used inside the company:

  • HR & Workforce Management Platform, used daily by 150+ employees. I worked on it alone and coordinated the IT teams to deploy it; it is being rolled out gradually to the factories where company staff work.
  • Agentic Document Inspector & Orchestrator, whose configurable validation rules I defined with the sales, engineering and finance teams.

My third production system, the AI-Powered Real Estate Automation Platform, is a freelance project I built on my own for HG Viajes Agency, not Moffett work.

AI & Automation Consultant

Santillana (Sanoma Group)

Translation turnaround
~4 months → ~2 weeks
Translation costs
~90% lower
Curriculum-adaptation processing time
~50% lower
Curriculum-adaptation costs
~95% lower

Role

This role ran in parallel with the MSc at UPM (until June 2025), the Oxford programme (June to August 2025), Dronomy (October 2025 to January 2026) and Moffett Automation (from February 2026).

It was part-time consulting, outside my main working hours.

What I did

  • Streamlined AI-assisted translation workflows, reducing turnaround from ~4 months to ~2 weeks and costs by ~90%.
  • Supported the automation of curriculum adaptation, reducing processing time by ~50% and costs by ~95% while bringing delivery in-house.
  • Prepared editorial content for AI-assisted processing and retrieval.
  • Advised and trained editorial teams on adopting generative AI and workflow automation.

Robotics Software Engineer

Dronomy, Madrid, Spain

What I did

  • Developed UAV perception and autonomy in GNSS-denied environments, including collision avoidance and precision landing.

Advanced Artificial Intelligence programme

University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom

Programme

  • Grade: A+ for the whole programme, in Deep Unsupervised Learning and Computer Vision.
  • Topics: Deep Unsupervised Learning, Generative AI, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing.

MSc Robotics and Automation

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain

Degree

Coursework

Computer Vision, Robot Guidance and Navigation, Optimal and Adaptative Control, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Nonlinear Systems, Domotics, Advanced Automation.

Event-Based Prediction Model for Multiple Objects and 3D Annotations in Logistics Scenario

Technische Universität Dortmund, Dortmund, Germany

Thesis

My MSc thesis, "Event-Based Prediction Model for Multiple Objects and 3D Annotations in Logistics Scenario", for the UPM Master's in Robotics and Automation, carried out at Technische Universität Dortmund: event-based object prediction and 3D annotations for logistics. It is a thesis, not a paper.

Aerial Robotics Software Development

Computer Vision & Aerial Robotics

What I did

Research and development of software for aerial robotics.

Critical Embedded Software Engineer

Capgemini Engineering - Airbus Defence and Space

Role

The role overlapped with the last months of the BSc (until June 2023) and the first months of the MSc (from September 2023).

What I did

  • Verified and validated Airbus MRTT safety-critical software under DAL-A requirements, and assessed changes and requirements for reliability, traceability and compliance.

How it began

It began with an electronic systems engineering internship, with complete training in embedded systems: FPGA-based avionics design, development and verification of microelectronic systems in VHDL, electronic lab systems for aeronautics and space, real-time systems and aerospace certification standards.

Sensor IoT Developer

IMDEA Materials Institute

What I did

A co-op position: I developed IoT solutions for new-material sensors and managed the sensor data.

Geolocation and support electronical device for the humanitarian-military field

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain

Work

My Bachelor's thesis at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid: "Geolocation and support electronical device for the humanitarian-military field".

Founder & E-commerce Developer

Tu Proyecto 3D

What I did

I founded and ran an independent e-commerce business selling 3D-printed baking and pastry products. I built the online store from scratch, automated order management, purchase notifications and customer messages, and owned the product from 3D design and manufacturing to marketing, sales and fulfilment.

How I ship

Four steps, each with evidence from real projects.

  1. Discover

Gathered requirements with each department for the HR & workforce platform.

    HR & Workforce Management Platform

  2. Build

Built Android/iOS apps and a facial-detection kiosk check-in for workforce management.

    HR & Workforce Management Platform

  3. Deploy

Three AI systems in production: document inspection, property listings, workforce management.

    Moffett Automation and freelance work

  4. Adopt

Advised and trained Santillana teams on AI agents, generative AI and automation.
